En vacker dag just efter midsommar gjorde vi en liten utflykt från vårt hus i Västanträsk till Bjuröklubb utanför Skellefteå. 

 Bjuröklubb har jag varit nyfiken på länge. En lärare jag hade på skolan i Skellefteå hade en stuga där ute så det var från honom jag hörde talas om det första gången. Senare sjöng Laleh vackert om Bjuröklubb så det lät som en fin plats. 

 Naturen är lite karg, träden har fått kämpa för sin överlevnad lite som uppe mot fjällen. utsikten över havet påminner om vidderna på fjället och ger mig lite samma känsla. 

One beautiful day just after Midsummer, we took a little trip from our house in Västanträsk to Bjuröklubb outside Skellefteå.

I have been curious about Bjuröklubb for a long time. A teacher I had at school in Skellefteå had a cabin out there, so I heard about it from him for the first time. Later, Laleh sang beautifully about Bjuröklubb, so it sounded like a nice place.

The nature is a bit barren, the trees have had to struggle for their survival much like in the mountains. The view over the sea reminds me of the expanses of the mountains and gives me a similar feeling. 

Bjuröklubb har varit en viktig plats längs Norrlandskusten länge. man har hittat boplatser från så tidigt som 500-talet. ön har länge varit viktig för fisket och säljakt men mest bebodd under de perioder det fiskades eller jagades. Det finns lämningar från vikingatiden och under 1500-talet reste Sveriges sista katolska biskop till platsen och har beskrivit den. Bland annat att fisket var gott på platsen och att fisken som hängde på tork luktade så strkt att man kunde navigera efter lukten. 

Bjuröklubb has been an important place along the Norrland coast for a long time. Settlements have been found dating as far back as the 500s. The island has long been significant for fishing and seal hunting but was mostly inhabited during the periods when fishing or hunting took place. There are remnants from the Viking Age and during the 1500s, Sweden's last Catholic bishop traveled to the site and described it. Among other things, he noted that the fishing was good at the site and that the fish hung out to dry smelled so strong that one could navigate by the scent. 

Bjuröklubb var lotsstation mellan 1821 och 1966 och hade bemannad fyr mellan 1859 och 1970 när fyren blev automatiserad. det är även en väderobservationsplats som länge var bemannad men nu är automatisk även den.

Bjuröklubb was a pilot station between 1821 and 1966 and had a manned lighthouse between 1859 and 1970 when the lighthouse became automated. It is also a weather observation site that was manned for a long time but is now automatic as well. 

Nu är Bjuröklubb ett naturreservat och kanske mest ett utflyktsmål. Det finns en resturang och ett café vid den gamla fyrvaktarbostaden och möjlighet att övernatta i fyren.

Now Bjuröklubb is a nature reserve and perhaps mainly a destination for outings. There is a restaurant and a café by the old lighthouse keeper's house and the opportunity to stay overnight in the lighthouse.
